Senior Scientist
Dr Michelle Tigchelaar is a Senior Scientist at WorldFish, leading the organization’s impact agenda on Climate Resilience and Environmental Sustainability. An interdisciplinary climate scientist with more than a decade of experience, she works at the interface of science and policy to scale evidence-based adaptation and mitigation solutions in food systems.
Her peer-reviewed research on climate impacts has been published in leading journals including Science, Nature Food, and PNAS, and has received wide coverage by major media outlets. Michelle’s recent work has helped shape global dialogue and partnerships, such as the Aquatic Blue Food Coalition, that advance the integration of aquatic foods into key multilateral processes, global climate commitments, and national climate strategies. She holds a MSc in Climate Dynamics from Utrecht University, and a PhD in Oceanography from the University of Hawaii.
